To Elmers family:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. We both really enjoyed Elmers company while he was at Kootenai Medical Center, we both work there and would see him on a regular basis and grew found of him. He shared lots of stories with us and actually taught us a lot about growing up. He had such a great sense of humor and was a great person to get to know. He had a lot of passion with coaching that is for sure, with the stories that he told us. He will be greatly missed and while he was here, he touched a lot of hearts and left a lot of memories.
Our prayers are with you at this difficult time, Elmer will always be with us.

To Brad and his family I express my sympathy for the loss of a wonderful man and friend. I first met Coach Jordan in the late 1940's. I was in junior high school in CDA. I always wanted to play basketball for him. He was polite enough to suggest I play Jr. varsity basketball then become the team manager my senior year.I followed his suggestion. Like so many I was honored to work and play for Coach Jordan and to become his friend in later years. We played golf together and reminisced about our many times together and the friends we shared.

God bless Elmer and his wonderful family.

Your friend,

Jim Hawkins

In the development of one's values and outlook on life, we all have a certain few persons who mold us into what we are. Coach Elmer Jordan was one of those persons for me and a multitude of other young men growing up in CDA. Remembering his mode of meticulous preparation for the game, his calmness while underway, and wise counsel throughout (all intertwined with a competitive drive) has well served me in my work and life. It is a great honor to be one of Elmer's boys. I regret that distance will keep me away from the funeral gathering but let it be a grand celebration of this fine man's life and what he means to so many of us. Nat Pieper, CHS '60. Tampa, Florida

Mr. Jordan was certainly one of the great leaders that we have in our lives. He was a major influence on many lives, and he was a gentleman. He will be missed by the community he loved and served, by all of the players and students that knew him and of course his family. Brad, you should be very proud of your father and you should take great comfort knowing the entire community shares a little in your loss.

Elmer grew up in the same neighborhood as I did in Bonners Ferry. We were friends but as we both went our ways I only spoke to him one time when he had his basketball team in Pocatello, ID where I was attending college at Idaho State. I did read of his successes in the Spokesman Review when I was in Bonners years later. He was quite a guy and I marvel how one man could pack so much into one lifetime. He obviously will be missed by a great number of people and organizations. My sincere sympathy goes out to all of his family. Bob Causton

I am writing from South Africa, where I am currently on vacation, but fortunately, I received emails regarding the passing of Coach Elmer Jordan. I had the good fortune of playing basketball for him at CDA High School, 1958-60. He was a great coach and a wonderful, caring person. His help and guidence, during a difficult time in my life, will never be forgotten. More than anyone else, he was the influence and the source of encouragement that kept me from taking the wrong road in life. I am glad that I was able to express my gratitude to him many years later. Though we never discussed it, I believe that he was a man of faith and I look forward to a reunion with him in heaven one day. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
