Thelma Helena Snow

Thelma Helena Snow was born in New Brunswick, Canada June 18, 1918 to Jabez Snow and Dorothy Zelane Maguire Snow. She graduated from Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing in Massachusetts 1939. In 1942 she married Walter M. Stewart of Rock Michigan. She retired from nursing after 53 years in1992 from Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington. She moved to Coeur d'Alene and worked for nine years, following that retirement, at the Walden House in Coeur D'Alene as Housemother.

A life can not be compressed into a three hundred and fifty word blurb of facts in a paper and I won't try. Life was not always kind, nor was it easy. It wasn't the best at times but it wasn't the worst either. She was a remarkable RN and devoted all of her energy; yes, her very existence to her patients. But in the end, she was our mother. Gone was the orphaned girl, the fresh faced nursing student, the veteran RN and the fiercely independent woman. Her sisterhood of nurses cared for her gently in her last days and moments until on January 15, 2010 she vanished from our sight. Our family will be eternally grateful to the Hospice staff of nurses and doctors that cared for her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter M. Stewart in 1968, her sisters Ethel Snow Moore, Claire Snow Worthington, Bernice Snow and her brothers John Snow, Eugene Snow, and Fred Snow. She is survived by her half sister Christine Snow Keene, of Litchfield, Maine; her son and daughter in law Gary Glenn Stewart and Betty Lynn Stewart of Spring Valley, Ca; her daughter Kim Ann Stewart Erk of Hayden, ID, a daughter Doreen Stewart Teufel; and many nieces, nephews, grand children and great grand children.

At our mother's request, no funeral services will be held, however an open house will be held for family and friends on Saturday, January 23rd at 16087 N. Ridgeway Lane, Hayden, Idaho at 1:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations are made to Hospice of North Idaho.
